Cristina, in her early forties, was doing what so many of us do: trying to balance it all. A part-time job. Family life. Daily responsibilities. But something had started to shift. Her mood dipped. Sleep became a struggle. And the anxiety crept in so quietly, she didn’t even recognise it at first.

“I was constantly unhappy, tired and irritated. I couldn’t perform my daily activities. I even had palpitations and panic attacks at night. I didn’t realise it was anxiety at the time. I thought something was wrong with my heart.”

Perimenopause was changing her life in ways she didn’t expect, and certainly didn’t feel prepared for.

Finding her calm through Sophrology

In late 2022, Cristina first discovered Sophrology. At the time, she had already tried meditation and CBT with mixed results.

“Meditation didn’t really work for me, and CBT helped a little, but it didn’t stick. Sophrology was the first thing that made me feel calm.”

She began a daily practice and slowly started to feel better. But it wasn’t until she joined the Unlock Your Menopause Power programme that she found the targeted support she’d been craving.

“This programme came as a lifesaver. I was already practising daily, but this gave me something more structured, more focused – and I noticed the difference straight away.”

The power of small shifts

Cristina returned to familiar techniques, like the “tension-relax” method, but now with greater understanding and clarity.

“It helped me understand my symptoms and manage them. Especially the anxiety. I still feel it, but I know what it is now, and I know how to deal with it.”

The effects were almost immediate. Within a week, her sleep improved. Her energy returned. Her mood lifted. “My pulse started to settle. I could sleep better. I felt more in control of my emotions.”

The Find Peace session became a favourite, helping her release both mental and physical tension. “Sometimes I relax so much I feel a bit dizzy – that’s how deeply it works.”

The ripple effect at home

Cristina’s newfound calm didn’t just help her. It changed the atmosphere at home too. “My husband saw a big difference. He used to be really worried when I couldn’t leave the house. Now, I’m back to my old self again.”

She even passes on her knowledge to her teenage son when he needs help unwinding.

“He’s seen what it’s done for me. And when he’s feeling a little anxious, he’ll use the techniques to find his balance again.”

And in the midst of her busy days, Cristina now finds small moments for her practice – even just ten minutes in the car or during lunch. “That’s enough to reset.”

Cristina says

A daily essential

Though Cristina had been practising Sophrology for a while, the menopause-specific programme gave her the tools to truly address what she’d been missing.

“It’s a toolkit I can lean on. It’s part of my day now.”

She still uses sessions like Restore Your Sleep when she needs them, mixing them with other favourites.

When asked to rate the programme, Freddie gave the programme a “Ten out of ten because I actually enjoy it that much.”

Her advice to others thinking about Sophrology to navigate perimenopause is to “Stick with it. Even if it doesn’t feel like much at first, it will shift something. You’ll notice it.”

And if you’re unsure where to start, Freddie’s advice is to “Take ten minutes a day for yourself. Practise Sophrology. You’ll feel the benefits – even from the smallest pause.”
